Called to Serve

Week 51

Week 51 - S-s-so C-c-cold

Servus! The temperature has dropped back down this week, we are staying in the negatives and there is plenty of ice and snow to show for it. This means wearing no less than 3 lagers and really praying that there is no wind – the wind kills. Being outside in freezing weather isn’t everybody’s thing, it’s certainly not mine, but apparently there are plenty of Germans who think differently so we did spend 3 straight hours at an Ausstellung in Ingolstadt in the snow.

Week 50

Week 50 - Augsburg pt. 2

Servus! Well, Sister Gladwell and I kicked off this next transfer here in Augsburg with taking turns being sick – it’s her turn right now. It means that the apartment has never looked better! Hopefully this week we can turn things around again and spend more time outside the apartment than in. We did make it out a couple of times this week though – we had an Ausstellung in Munich on Saturday (the day in between me being sick and Sister Gladwell coming down with it) and were able to meet some of the new people in the Zone as well as have some good conversations with people on the streets.

Week 49

Was für eine Überraschung!

Servus!! I hope you all had a wonderful week! Ours ended up going a little differently than planned. The biggest game changer was transfer calls. We thought that Sister Piippo and I would stay together, President had all but confirmed at interviews as well, so when we get the call that she is going to Biel, Switzerland it sounded a little like: Wir: Echt jetzt? AP Gondor: Echt. Wir: Echt echt?

Week 48

two thousand twenty three

Servus!! Happy New Year!! I hope you all had a wonderful time celebrating the new year, and I wish you all the best of luck with all your new resolutions! It seems a little silly sometimes, but setting goals really does help us improve – something I have learned a lot more about on my mission. We need to set goals, and high ones, that will help us stretch and become the person God knows we can be.

Week 47

Fröhliche Weihnachten!!

Servus!! We had an amazing week here, celebrating Christmas many times over. The weekend kicked off with a caroling Ausstellung in München, it was an absolute blast! About half of the Zone of missionaries would stand and sing (all the Christmas songs in the German hymnbook, then switch to the English and go through them again) while the other missionaries went through the crowd of people that stopped to film or listen and chatted with them about Christmas and Jesus Christ.
