Guten Tag zusammen!!
Another week down in Switzerland, and a week with many miracles. The craziest (which admittedly is really only crazy as a missionary) was on Sunday.
On Sunday, we already had a full day planned. We were going to sing in sacrament meeting, give a thought in primary with everyone before helping teach another primary class, then a quick planning session before the baptism of a little boy in our ward, after which we had stake choir practice an hour away, and we had to get home from that in time for a cleaning inspection. So kinda a lot. One miracle is just that it all happened! Our traveling all worked our and we stayed at each event just long enough. The other miracle has to do with what happened during the church service while we were busy with previous commitments.
So, we had two people show up to church with interest. One of which we had met once and invited to church, the other was someone a member had invited so we had never met them before. We were nervous about performing so we didn’t notice them walk in, but many members did and immediately got to know them as well as led us over to them. Then sacrament meeting went swimmingly, but we had to go to primary to help out and we couldn’t sit with them for the next hour. We are stressing, trying to get names and numbers from the new people and trying to find and introduce them to someone who could sit with them during the class, when our GML comes up to us and says that they have found an extra classroom and a member was willing to lead a simple gospel principles class with a couple other members and recent returned missionaries that these new people could attend. I never would have expected that to happen! It was so amazing to leave these new friends in good hands in a class that ended up being about the restoration. I am so grateful for the members that threw it all together so fast and were willing to go with the flow and immediately start fellowshipping these strangers.
We were able to speak to the friends afterwards and they both and amazing things to say about their experience and wanted to meet with us and come to church again next week. I know that the members were an integral part of what happened and of their newfound excitement for the gospel. Sometimes it doesn’t seem like a big thing, but saying hi and being welcoming to new people can make all the difference in ways we sometimes can’t imagine with these people showing up to a church service that is full of strangers and new things. So do it! Say hi! Get to know them a little bit so that next time when they come, there will be one less stranger in the crowd.
“Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;” -Ephesians 2:19
I hope you all have a great week!!
