Week 26

A Listening Ear

Hallo liebe Familie und Freunde!!

What a week! We are really using that new missionary fire that my comp has to work as hard as possible, filling every minute of the day. Or trying to – we had several last minute cancelations this past week from friends and members, kind of rough. But we have also been able to have some great time for street finding!

On Sunday we went street finding and we had about an hour of time. We met up with Sister Nelson’s sister and her friend at the beginning and chatted for about 15 minutes before heading out into the park to find. As we walk I see a nice looking old lady on a bench up ahead and point her out to my companion. We approach her and ask what brings her joy in life, and she explained that everything brings her joy and she is quite content with her life, but that she hadn’t always been. Intrigued we ask a little more and it sets her off. We spend the next 45 minutes standing in front of her as she explained her entire life story (which was actually crazy!!), but she also spoke about how she had God to thank for all the hard things and the good things and she wouldn’t trade it. This was so inspiring, she told us stories of war and abuse, broken relationships and health problems, and yet she was happy with how her life had gone. We had to go so we could make it to an appointment, but we were able to share a little bit about the Book of Mormon and how she could use it to strengthen her relationship with God and she said she would start reading it that night and gave us her number so we could follow up. It was definitely a miracle that we happened upon her, and after we knew that she had definitely needed someone to talk to and God happened to send us. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be an instrument in the Lord’s hands as I serve here in Vienna.

Lots of amazing things happening here in Vienna and I am having a great time with Sister Nelson (although training can get a little stressful sometimes).

I hope you all have an amazing week!

Liebe Grüße, Sister Tripp
