Called to Serve

Week 20

The People are Nicer in Graz

Servus Familie und Freunde! It really feels like summer now, just constantly dripping with sweat – I might need to start keeping a towel in my bag. But summer also means that Sommerferien is beginning and everyone is out and about instead of at school or work. We saw this very clearly when we went back down to Graz for another Ausstellung. After having lived in Vienna for about 3 months, I think I have a pretty good idea of what the people are like.

Week 19

And The World Keeps Spinning

Guten Tag liebe Familie und Freunde! The new transfer has started and my training is over with my trainer going home. For her it was the end of her mission so there were lots of goodbyes said and lots of excitement about seeing her family, but for me it was sending her off at the train station, receiving my new comp and continuing in the work. This transfer has had a bit of a slow start but it is now beginning to speed up again.

Week 18

The End of Training

Guten Tag!! This transfer is just about over, which means I am done with training! It also means that my current comp/trainer is going home and I’m going to get a new one… Sister Jones! She was one of the missionaries I was in the MTC with and I’m pretty hyped for this upcoming transfer. I am a little nervous about leading the area though, but I know it will all be great.

Week 17

Going down to Graz

Guten Tag!! This past week has been beautiful, mostly since it has rained some which has brought the temperature down. Thank goodness, this humidity is really getting to me! The rain also helps with allergies a little bit, bringing relief to my nose and eyes. Another beautiful thing was the opportunity to Super Tausch in Graz again! It’s kind of like a mini vacation but while still doing missionary work. While we were there, we did some street finding where we focused on the topic of families – this was because the church in the entire country of Austria is having a family themed month for June with brochures that tell what each weeks topic will be.

Week 16

Zone Conference!!

Guten Tag!! This week had lots and lots of travel. Starting with a visa appointment on Thursday in Munich (about 5 hours each way) and then Zone Conference on Friday in Neumarkt (about 2.5 hours each way). But, both were very worth it for different reasons. I’m grateful that now I have a visa woo-hoo! and I’m also grateful for all the words of wisdom we received from President Naatjes.
